Dean Hurst is a Human Resources Executive who has led the development and managed the implementation of people related strategies in support of the business plans for multiple diverse business units for BP and Amoco Corporation.  He has led the HR function in multiple manufacturing sites including one of the largest refineries in the United States and in support of a multibillion dollar plant expansion project over a career spanning more than 25 years.

 

Most recently Dean established and led a talent acquisition group to support staffing requirements for five refineries and multiple engineering projects across the US.

 

Dean has led strategic initiatives in the following areas among others:

·         Developed and implemented a corporate coordinated recruiting process with associated consistent recruiting support material.

·         Labor partnership agreement with union a major US refinery leading to enhanced union/management cooperation.

·         Lead the consolidation of refining and chemical plant operations.

·         Lead the integration of a non-represented ARCO refinery into the BP organization post acquisition.

·         Developed a regional succession planning model and led implementation.

·         Developed a five year staffing plan reflecting significantly changing workforce demographics and led implementation.

 

Dean has significant breadth of experience in the HR function including employee relations, compensation and reward, employee benefits and organization development grounded on his early career operations experience.

 

Dean holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from Brigham Young University. He is member of the Society of Human Resource Management since 1988. He has been a guest lecturer in the MBA program at Western Washington University. He has also been a broad of directors member of local credit unions and non-profit organizations.
